| | | Re: Laptops or Notebooks for the last few years ive been using an Acer laptop to store/view and even play some fairly recent games on. Its been really reliable and hardwearing since its still going after travelling across canada with it on my back all the way.
This reliable little compy was so good i decided to get another one fairly recently, i went for the intel dual core processor this time as it was supposed to be a bit quicker than the amd equivelent, it certainly is quieter and runs much cooler, perfect for viewing large lossless images, it has a dvd writer and a 160gb hdd and 2gb of ram, so far im just as happy with this one as i was with the first one.
oh, it did come with vista but i formatted it and installed xp, that was the only drawback but it wasnt really a problem. |

| | | Re: Laptops or Notebooks I use a Dell Latitude D420, and it is wonderfully light, sling it in a shoulder bag and don't know I've got it. It has a separate plug-in CD drive, and a dock which I seldom use.
My only problem is that it gets very hot on the right side which makes sitting with it on my lap for long uncomfortable.

| | | Re: Laptops or Notebooks I like the look of the PC nextday Zoostorm 4-5628,but this is academic now
as I was forced to replace my home PC.
This can now enable realistic flight sims to be flown, magical wars to be fought
and e-mails answered the machine has a top spec with bags of overclocking potential

Yes, the notebooks are smaller and lighter-ish than a laptop, but the DVD and or floppy drives are external, ie. they have to be carried around as an extra when you need them, plus you have the weight of the transformer in the bag, which in some Dells is the size of a housebrick, [don't knock Dells, they're very good], if you can get away from needing to use DVD's and a charger on your travels get a notebook, and check the actual battery life, not the one the machine maker advertises.
Max.
