| | | Re: Is this scope alright? I have a pair of Bresser bins. These are the second pair that I have had, having dropped the first whilst on holiday last year. I find them great and are far superior (to me) than the quite expensive ones that I have used in the past.
No knowledge of Bresser scopes but I use an inexpensive scope. The edges of the image are not very clear on high magnification, but having triesd many of the very expensive scopes at a wldlife fayre two years ago, both my wife and I were very disappointed with many of the very high priced (need a mortgage!) scopes.
We eventually settled on an inexpensive scope that suited our pocket and that we found usable.
If you can try before you buy that would be great because, as we found out, high cost and famous name do not always guarantee that you will have something that you find suitable.
Best of luck and if you do decide on the Bresser scope, can you let us know how you find it please? |

Honestly I don't really mind about absolutely fantastic picture quality. I will try to get to somewhere that stocks them before I buy.
Incidentally I saw a review on Amazon that seemed to know what they were on about that said that it was quite good quality for the money. I would buy a Swarovski/Opticron etc. but my pockets are unluckily not bottomless, and I have no house to mortgage! |

| | | Re: Is this scope alright? Hi , I have just bought my first Scope which is the Bresser P90 25-75 mag. digiscope. It cost about £100 from Lidl's supermarket together with a tripod and camera bracket called a Scopeteknix ST98 . Compared to other prices on the internet it was really cheap. As far as I am able to judge it is great . It wobbles a bit though on the tripod, but you just have to ley it settle down once you have finished adjusting it . The tripod is good and strong.
I am now wanting to buy a good small camera to fit onto the bracket and would welcome any advice. Thankyou . Good luck

| | | Re: Is this scope alright? Hi...i had a pair of bresser bins a few years ago...10x42 i think and they were excelent. especially in low light ( a good test for any optics). I paid medium money for them new, around £150 and apart from being probably the best low light bins i have had they were well made and robust.
The bresser bins came highly recommended by a group of stalkers i met, and their claims of low light quality were well founded.
Also on a trip around the Uists i met a couple that had a bresser dachstein ed scope that blew me away. I use leica apo 77.. and i hate to say this but my leica was certainly no better than the bresser and the build quality of the bresser was superb.
i am not sure what this scope will be like as i have never seen one or used one...but i know that bresser do make some really good optics and being German built you know your not going to go far wrong.
next time you guys visit a bird fair go on a cloudy day and test the bresser scopes...then tell me i'm wrong !
hope this helps ! |

There is one hell of a price difference between Swaros and Bresser, yet people here seem to be saying Bresser are just as good.
No doubt in laboratory conditions using special charts and measuring equipment the Swaros will be way out in front, but in the field can the average human eye really tell the difference ? Even in low light, people here seem to be impressed with Bresser which is surely where one would expect Swaros to leave the competition standing ?
A side by side comparison should surely clinch it for the Swaros and with their reputation for after sales service which can only leave the competition drooling, there can only be one winner.

I hae a Viking scope - I rejected the RSPB one as not sharp.
I can easily tell the difference between my Viking and a firends Swara, another friends Nikon, and another friends cheaper brand.
What may be happening here, is that until you have spent several hours looking through scopes people aren't really in a position to compare one with another.
You need to learn to use scopes, just as you do with learning to use Bins.
Then, as you learn to spot nuances in plumages, or the light is poor, the real differences come through.
so Fairplay's comment
"So how true are the well known words: "You get what you pay for" ?
Yes, you get what you pay for, but at the top end the differences are small. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
