| | Print Fest..... A while back I asked for advice re buying a new printer and after some thought went for the Epson Stylus Photo R800....... its done one or two little nonsense jobs in the few weeks its sat on my desktop (and while I waited .... and waited for replacement ink order to arrive)
Finally last night feeling brave (should have been going to bed early.... 01.00 hours I gave in and went upstairs ) because I set to and had a Print Fest ..... and oh my .... I don't think pleased quite covers it I used to think the old Photo Ex 700 was good - but oh my things have moved on.....
Fantastic is all I can say - there are a dozen of my best pics laid on the floor in here drying out - I've had a lovely play with the different papers I had tucked away in the cupboard and I'm so impressed ........
It probably is just as well I didn't go for the A3 print capable - otherwise there would be no floor space left, not to mention ink or paper - which reminds me - must stock up now on paper and order some more ink
Thanks folks for advice at the time ........ its a success story here

Mark H | You will think we're strange but sat on the husbands desk behind me is an R300 which he has only used once to print photos with ........ and they were of brown long-eared bats to give to someone who had helped with a bat event at work - they were good prints but I don't know now how comparable - I don't see that the 800 will be much different - tho it does have the gloss optimiser capability....... dunno.
The thing is I don't mess with his equipment and alter any of his settings and he doesn't mess with mine - we get on better that way don't get it wrong we love each other dearly but we don't play nice in the sandpit when it comes to photography matters and our desks are sacrosanct
......now what else can I find to print before I have to go to work

| | | Re: Print Fest..... You should see the floor here now Mark If I don't stop soon I won't be able to find any carpet to step out of the room on ........ wonder if the boss would accept that as a reason for not turning up at work this afternoon No I thought not

| | | Re: Print Fest..... Been there done that Pauline, when i first got this printer it took a while to get it all set colour-wise etc so went through a lot of ink/paper....it looked like the floor was paved with images as some form of artistic statement!!
Its nice to view images on the screen but a nice print has its own special appeal too

Mark H | Heh! heh! I was almost late for work at dinnertime cos I didn't want to break off......... now there are 16 prints drying on the floor Not only is the print finish itself better but the fact that they are borderless adds to the appeal - tho one does have a printed coloured surround! The quality is so good I would have no hesitation in selling prints now. All I need now is to decide what types of paper to re-order!!

| | | Re: Print Fest..... Thats excellent Pauline. Unfortunately i`ve been trying to print a few recent shots out tonight and it looks like i have a duff set of ink cartridges - blacks been leaking and whites are turning out a lovely shade of pink, even after cleaning the print heads several times.....arghhhh!!

Mark H | Oh dear - poor you.......... course I have got compatible replacement inks and am wondering whether they will come up to scratch against the real epson ones which are in at the min...........Mmmmmmmmmm?
Hope you can sort it out and get back to enjoying printing: its quite annoying when you are aware that someone is doing something (and bleating on about it - like me ) and you can't - take my word for it - like I can't upload to this site and just about every other of the 15,000 members can ...... but I've given up on that for now as I suspect I will be faced with going to the shop and I don't reckon he will mend it or solve it either - I think he will reprog Windows and I'll be back to the begining again - with more unneccessary work and stuff lost again - so for the time being - no ta!!

| | | Re: Print Fest..... I`ll sort it Pauline.Given up for tonight though to avoid the printer developing boot marks Its the first real problem i`ve had, so cant complain really...and dont worry, its great to hear how happy you are with your prints, if you can sell a few to make a few quid towards your hobby thats even better
