Tripod advice

Hi all,

I'm getting a scope for christmas(my first one) and obviously I need a Tripod to go with it. What do people recommend that I get in a price range of below £100?

Any help would be great

My advice about tripods is to be careful what you choose. If a tripod is too big and heavy it can be very difficult to move around and may cause injuries to the person lifting it! For watching birds in a hide at a reserve, though, they are extremely useful.

I was in the same boat and bought the Manfrotti 190XPROB for £95 plus a ball head, which was a further £45 but worth it. I was advised on this forum to go for the O55 series but I preferred what I bought as it is lighter and has the sane centre column that swings to the horizontal position.

I gave my manfrotto 055 series to my daughter who lives in south africa, and so had to buy again - looked at the lighter range of manfrotto as above, but it is not as tall and very wobbly and bought 055 series again.

This series has no been re-vamped, and is available with the centre column swinging to horizontal - I rejected this as I can't fit a hide clamp on which is important to me.

When I bought my scope a couple of years back I was very disapointed in the scope - until I bought a decent steady tripod -don't skimp is my advice.
