Which software for wildlife records on apple mac?

Hi Folks

Does anyone know of a good software package for recording wildlife records on an Apple Mac? I have used Mapmate on a PC which I liked but unfortunately my Mac dosn't have PC/Windows capabilities to run Mapmate.

Be most grateful for any suggestions or recommendations

I am unable to help. I wondered if in the past other threads on the subject of database software have been started. If yes can someone point us in the right direction, if not will members post the software and comments that they use to keep track of their photos. Both for the PC and the Mac. Neil

If it's a database software you want, I use Filemaker Pro on thw Mac and Microsoft Access on the PC.

is "recorder" still available ? - back in the day it was prime software for recording wilife records on both pc and mac but ive not encountered it lately (this was late 90s , I was using a pentium 1 at the time

)

Recorder is still the standard programme for recording on governmental sites although most individual recorders use MapMate mainly for the ease of data transfer. I have no idea whether these are available for Mac.

Personally (for a variety of reasons, incompetence, lack of time, need to add my own features) I use MapMate minimally (when I can get it to work) and have totally abandoned Recorder - far easier to use standard spreadsheets or database managers (i.e. Excel & Access) in Windows which, I believe, can easily be adapted to Mac. Speaking from the long-distant past, Apple serious programmes (spreadsheets, databases &c

) weren't very good so most people would use Windows programmes for storage/analysis .... even though they were slowed down by 'adaptors' - might all be different now?

You can get Microsoft Office in a Mac version which includes all the usual programs including Excel but for some reason not Access.

Just remembered about this. It's an open source (free) Office software which includes a database program like access. I haven't tried it but it might be worth a look as it's free.
