Originally Posted by badger426 I'm currently using the FinePix software that came with my camera, I'm thinking of getting Photoshop elements any thoughts on this? | Photoshop elements is quite a good photo editor in my opinion anyway. I use elements four but I believe version five is available. It does all the editing I ever need to do to a photograph, and is pretty eay to use. However saying that I have never used the full CS version of photoshop or any other editing software so I can't really compare it to anything else. It's much cheaper than the full CS version as well.
Hope this helps

All the very best,

| | | Re: Photo Software. Ask yourself a couple of questions:
What do you want of the programme that you haven't got now?
Can I use free programmes before buying any commercial ware?
If you want to do lots of fancy art work then I'm sure that there may be features in commercial packages. For routine computer/web/printing purposes then freeware such as IrfanView - Official Homepage - one of the most popular viewers worldwide is more than adequate. |

The Gimp is another free one highly regarded by mates of mine but I havent tried it myself.Re Elements, i think i`ve read elsewhere that its sometimes offered as a freebie with some of the camera mags?
As an aside, I bought a camera mag the other day with a free instruction cd for Elements, covering various editing tasks. As I dont use Elements myself, if anyone wants it pm me...

| | | Re: Photo Software. Hi there, I use Photoshop CS2, Elements 4 and Lightroom together with Apple Aperture. I find it all depends on how much editing you need to do on the original as to which is best. Apart from Aperture the Adobe software has PC & Mac versions - I'm an Apple Mac user. I would recommend Elements as a start for ease of use and the number of automatic features. Also it is compatible with many full Photoshop plugins which increase its usefulness.
If you are a Mac user - I would recommend Aperture and that should be sufficient for 90% of your needs.
