| | | Lowepro Nature Trekker AW II I've read a few threads on camera bags as I need to replace my faithful, but now too small, Orion trekker. As a result just did a trawl on the net for some reviews on the Lowepro Nature Trekker AW II. Seems to be what I want, however, I can't see whether the bag has a separate zip area to stash a few sarnies, a drink and spare batts, cards etc. Anyone own one who can enlighten me pls ?

I have this bag & it is very good for your camera gear. It comes with a detachable day sack that you can carry on its own if travelling light. It also has an exterior zipped pocket which i use to carry lens covers etc. (Probably a bit flat for your sarnies & flask). You can however buy extra external pouches for extra gear or sarnies. The inside of the lid of the rucksack has zipped compartments for spare cards, batteries etc. When the daysack is attatched to the main rucksack, the whole thing becomes a huge cavernous holdall, with of course the extra weight that goes with it. I carry a Nikon D2x attatched to a Sigma 500mm f4.5, 2 teleconverters, pouch of cards, Nikon 18-70, Sigma 70-300, Swarovski ATS 80HD, remote release, cleaning kit, lens & camera covers, & a Gitzo 1548 strapped on the side. You can imagine that this lot weighs a fair bit, but once on, the pack is very well balanced & the weight is not noticed.
Hope this helps a bit
Regards Rob.

| | | Re: Lowepro Nature Trekker AW II I agree with Rob on this one. I also use this bag, and it will take a 300mm f/2.8 (hood reversed) attached to a pro spec SLR. Another feature is the all-weather cover that stores in the base of the bag. Worth every penny.

| | | Re: Lowepro Nature Trekker AW II I to have the Nature trekker and agree with all the comments thus far, especially the bit about weight, although heavy when fully loaded it sits very well on your back, without any rubbing or chaffing.
I dont often use the tripod cup but do attach various pouches to the outside of the bag for quicker access to bits and bobs |

| | | Re: Lowepro Nature Trekker AW II I have my eye on this bag too, but can anyone recommend a backpack that will take a good selection of gear but also provide room for sandwiches and some personal stuff?? |

| | | Re: Lowepro Nature Trekker AW II I received my nature trekker as per this thread and was a bit astonished at the size of it Bit big for little excursions but will keep my orion trekker for those. The nature Trek Definately holds my canon 400d, 70-300mm, 10-22mm, 24-70mm and my 100mm macro. Also room for another lens, hopefully the 400mm next also lots of room for spare lens covers, hood, bats, cards etc. As Mike says, comes with a day pack which should easily hold picnic nosh and a light waterproof coat. All this with weatherproof cover
