I'd second or third the harnesses that are around these days.
I hate things round my neck (especially ties!).

My camera and 100-400 pump I usually hang off a comfortable
rucksack with clips.

Ditto my tripod and scope, but I also have a wide strap for that
that I bought at an airport, made by swiss army knive people,
