| | | Re: Ring flash? The Lester Dine Point & Ring flash, is designed for dentistry and is able to illuminate quite small objects. I believe that it can also be used for full face work, so it appears to be quite versatile. It costs more than the Sigma, but only about the same as the Canon ring flash. I haven't used one, but I have read good reports on it. On paper, the Alien Bees flash looks the most flexible unit and can be used hand held or in the studio. There are a number of addons for it in the way of reflectors and shoot through umbrellas. |

| | | Re: Ring flash? I have been surfing the net looking for the least expensive place to purchase a ring flash. I have found a ring flash adaptor which may be of interest to members who have their own 'ordinary' flash guns. The adaptor fits onto the front of the flash gun and directs the output through a number of prisms or reflectors and gives the same effect as a ring flash. The Ring itself is larger than the Sigma and Canon units and should fit on almost any lens. The exposure quoted was f5.6 at 2 meters. The cost of the adaptor is £129 plus VAT. It fits the Canon 580 but not the ll version. A Nikon fit unit should be available now.
If you Google Ringflash adaptor you should find it. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
