| | | Treating My Meindl Boots I have a lovely pair of Meindl Burmah boots (the ones with Gore-Tex)
What do I treat them with? Wax,Oil,Cream?
Obviously The leather needs feeding but it needs to breathe so which
way to go (the gore-tex probably needs to be considered also)

| | | Re: Treating My Meindl Boots Use G-Wax cream, it goes on easily and works well. I was warned off another brand of boot treatment by a boot maker who put me onto the G-Wax. |

| | | Re: Treating My Meindl Boots I have the same boots nightshade...and i was a bit confused too...as all the creams, waxes etc are designed for LEATHER finish boots...(as in smooth and shiny like brashers.)
The Burmahs and Borneos are whats called NUBUK leather giving you that soft matt sheen suede feel..which is instantly lost the second you use waxes or creams...i cant remember what i use by name but its a dispensing spray that i put on which cleans and waterproofs..then you buff back to the nubuk suede with a suede brush? |

| | | Re: Treating My Meindl Boots Ah, sorry, didn't realise they weren't normal leather. In that case ignore my advice about cream and go for one the G-Wax sprays formulated specially for your type of boot. Go here: Granger's International | Waterproofing Products |

| | | Re: Treating My Meindl Boots What was impressed on me was that these leather(nubuck) boots breathe ,if you use the wrong product you will block the pores in the leather.
The leather must be "nourished" to keep it flexible but it needs to be water repellent

| | | Re: Treating My Meindl Boots For leather, (none shiney) it always used to be Calves Foot Oil. For football boots and leather (lace up) footballs, it used to be dubbin. For none leather goods it was always soap and water.
Have you asked the manufacturer for their recommendations? |

| | | Re: Treating My Meindl Boots Nightshade...like i said there is a special spray for our boots for nubuck leather.
As thwick said i think g-wax make it...or it might be Nikwax? ..
The shop who sold you your boots will stock it...if not try places like cotswold outdoors, millets or blacks. |

| | | Re: Treating My Meindl Boots Ok well...do what you like...you can use a million different things...if your happy to lose the nubuck suede look then you can use the creams and waxes as in the instructions in your link....it does state it will change the appearance but thats not really the end of the world.
otherwise buy one of the nubuck specialist products. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
