Long Lens Support

Hi Just thought I would let you know I have acted on the advice given in my last thread on ‘Gitzo Tripods’.

I have bought the Manfotto 359 Long lens support and first impressions are that it steadies my viewfinder image almost completely and is much more flexible than I had imagined. Can’t wait to try it out. I have posted a couple of images using the 500mm with 1.4x and beanbag from a public hide at Titchwell, I think my technique is improving. I am away next week on the south coast so I will try the new set up then. The 359 adds a bit of weight to my already heavy Benbo. So perhaps I am still in line for a carbon tripod. Anyone use the Manfrotto 055MF??

how does it deal with tracking moving subjects , and panning etc ? - I've never used this product but i would've imagined that being anchored at two points would make smooth tracking / panning nearly impossible

Hi. Yes those were exactly my thoughts, but the system is not as rigid as you might think. Have a quick look at the following link
