| | | Camera repair Hi I've got a Kodak EasyShare C743 point & shoot camera which I've not had for long, but unfortunately it got a bit damp recently and hasn't worked properly since. It now turns on fine and takes pics fine but when I turn it off the screen and lights shut down ok but the lens doesn't retract initially. It finally retracts five minutes later. Also the scroll button only now responds to left/right/down, the up no longer works.
Now is this sort of thing fixable and where would I find someone that could carry out the repairs? Also would the fix cost more than the camera cost to buy?
Cheers |

Matt H | Yeah, I was worried it might. I got it on offer to so only paid £75. Oh well I'll keep my eye out for another on offer. |

| | | Re: Camera repair You might try drying it out - put it in the sunshine (lens pointing away from sun) for as long as you can, or put it in a tin with some drying agent (bags of silica gel) Might do the trick.

henrya | Tried the direct sunlight option, it's been in the window above the radiator for several days now and it was only slightly damp rather than wet so I thought that would have been long enough to dry it out but it made no odds unfortunately. |

It looks to me like a new camera would be less expensive than a repair. If it is under a year old Kodak may repair it for free. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
