| | | Hides Do any of the members use their own hide, when out and about in the field? If so, which do they consider to be the best choice

| | | Re: Hides Neil, you may want to consider making your own. I based mine on the old fashioned square type using four extendable fishing rod rest with hide pulled over these. Many books contain plans for these, just remember it takes a lot of sewing, and in my case by hand - I'm a hell of a seamstress now you know! The camoflage material cost me about £14 (a local shop called Boyes). If you havn't the time or you don't want sore fingers, your best bet is the dome type. |

| | | Re: Hides I have just bought the Ameristep Doghouse blind, £150 it is an American design I can recommend. It pops up in seconds should go down in seconds but I have not got the knack just yet so it takes a munute or so. It comes in a little back pack so it is very convernient. It is big enough for two to three persons plus bags. Hmm I wish I had not seen nightshades' email on this subject, maybe I could have saved a bob or two ....but then again I'm no good at sewing and I am too impatient. |

| | | Re: Hides Anyone considered the fisherman's bivvy? Argos have one at £30, and is plain green, but just needs a suitable box hole cutting through it to service as a viewing flap. |

But I bought mine from a US company, I paid, including shipping and taxes, less than £50. |

| | | Re: Hides Hi, Guys! Thank you for the info again
I considered the fisherman's bivvi, but wondered if cutting the fabric would weaken it /cause a 'run' in the material where the hole was made.
Alan, that was a far too practical idea! My good lady laughed when she saw the suggestion that I did a bit of sewing.......the smile disappeared when I looked enquiringly towards her
Nightshade's idea was cheap and practical, although not waterproof in a downpour, but as a place to start I believe it's worth a go.
Not to forget Helen. Do you still have the contact for the tent, Helen? Your hide seems to be camouflaged, is it waterproof too?

Neil | Neil, I'm sure your good lady, if you asked her nicely, would treat you to a sewing maching for christmas. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
