| | | Re: Full Brim Hat leather will be awful hot in the sun - i'd go with fabric if i was you - tilley hats are excellent but unfortunately beyond your budget so your best bet might be a cricket hat or similar
something like this owzat-cricket.co.uk Wide Brim Sun Hat which will only cost arround 7 notes its not waterproof but then it doesnt really need to be , it will keep rain out of your eyes by virtue of the brim and so what if you head gets wet - if you're canoeing your going to get pretty wet anyway

any ideas ? | Were it I, I would go for a cap with deep brim (a 'baseball cap' if you wish) and turn it round depending on your relationship with the sun. If you don't want to turn it round every now and then, sew a strip of cloth to the back to cover your neck. Cloth - you can wet it to keep your head cool and let the sweat out - not leather in the Mediterranean/sub-tropics!
Waterproof, why? - but if necessary then spray it with silicone stuff ....
Get the whole lot for £5 - as long as you can sew ....

| | | Re: Full Brim Hat Save up a bit more and get a Tilley. I've got both summer and winter versions and I reckon they're pretty unbeatable. As nightshade says, a Tilley is an investment

| | | Re: Full Brim Hat Try looking in the shops selling outdoor clothing. I have seen some nice wide brimmed Peter Storm and Columbia hats in my local Millets. I can not remember the price but I am fairly sure they were under £30. I do not think they were water proof but a lot of the outdoor gear is quick drying. FYI My present hat was bought for £2 or £3 at my local army and navy store
