| | | extension rings Anyone know where I could source a set of extension rings for a Nikon Digital SLR?
Jessops show lots in stock, but don't actually have any ?????
West Midlands preferred.
Thanks,

| | | Re: extension rings I use a Kenko set which I bought online. Fotosense have them here for £84.99 and are quoting next day delivery. That sounds like a good price but you might find them cheaper if you shop around...

Thanks,
Llanon99 | I also use kenko rings. As they have no glass in them, they do not affect image quality, so cheap is good!

| | | Re: extension rings Thanks to all for the info:
I assume from the price that the Kenko rings are ported and thefore that the Nikons auto exposure TTL will function fully.....
Also what kind of depth of field are you getting at various rings sizes...
Thanks in advance.

| | | Re: extension rings Online Depth of Field Calculator
I believe that the depth of field can still be calculated using the calculator above and any table, disc or slide rule that you may already have. The extension rings allow for a closer object distance or "Subject Distance" as it is called in the calculator form.
For a given object distance the depth of field will be dependent on the lens focal length and the aperture (for a particular defined circle of confusion). |

| Yep, and AF too although I tend to find manual focus preferable for macro.

| | | Re: extension rings Thanks to all for the replys, I decided finally to get a set of straight through - non- ported tubes, which are very difficult to use for macro, but work a treat with my astronomical telescope (this lets sufficient through to the sensor that I don't have to worry about the F stop).
many thanks,
