| | | Advice on flat screen and photoprinter I have just returned from a trip to Bempton Cliffs with Cordless Dave. We have been comparing shots. I have a 6 year old hp pavilion mx70 CRT monitor and I have to say that my pics look better on Dave's Samsung flat screen. My appearance settings are the same as his, so that is not an issue. If I think about investing in a flat screen, does anyone have any advice, especially on the pitfalls to avoid.
I have an HP psc 750 all in one printer scanner and copier. The photos from it are not bad but the colours seem thinner than those on the monitor. I printed out a couple of pics on Dave's 4 year old Lexmark photoprinter and the results were quite superior. I would also welcome advice on a photoprinter - I am not sure whether an all in one machine would produce such good results as a dedicated photoprinter - but would prefer this if possible, not least because of space constraints.
Thanks

| | | Re: Advice on flat screen and photoprinter I've got an Epson R800 printer, quality is great, inks costs are (I think) reasonable, price was acceptable but if you're short of space then it may be too big.
As for flat screens, I've never got on with them. Always seem to have problems with colour and quality, but then I've only tried cheap ones that came with PCs.
Buy a good quality flat screen and with all the space you save you can fit in an R800.

| | | Re: Advice on flat screen and photoprinter I had a look at a Samsung 215TW this is a 21" LCD monitor with a really impressive
picture quality it was purchased (£360 ) for a gaming monitor/work at home
it displays terrific accurate colour images too expensive for me though
I use a BenQ FP183 17" which has excellent image quality it replaced the 19"
Samsung CRT monitor which currently languishes in its box in the loft (offers? )

| | | Re: Advice on flat screen and photoprinter I've had a Samsung Syncmaster 720N and an Epson R300 for some time now. I am sure the later versions would be better, but I am still pleased with what I have got. My friend has a professional set up, his monitors cost thousands, the image is better but I reckon the law of diminishing returns sets in.
I could not really advise on what would provide the best return to for money, but as I say the above seem adequate for now.

| | | Re: Advice on flat screen and photoprinter I located my coy of Computer Shopper June 07the lab test is Photo Printers
Best Buy is the Epson R265 £52 (A4)
Best Buy is again an Epson Stylus Photo 1400 £255 (A3)
If I remember correctly you can log onto Computer Shoppers Web Site and call up the
Lab Tests to read for yourself
PS there is also a review of a Gateway notebook for £500 (Tesco) with a core duo processor
in £600 Notebook Test Lab it ran away with the Best Buy title

| | | Re: Advice on flat screen and photoprinter Thanks for the advice.
So far as the printer is concerned, my researches suggest that the Canon IP 5300 produces excellent photos max 9600x2400 dpi. It scores well on Computershopper and PCworld and other reviews. Ideally, I would prefer an all-in-one as this would take up less space. I am therefore pretty much decided on the Canon MP600 all-in-one that also scores highly and prints max 9600x2400 dpi.
