| | | Spare battery for FZ30 Hi all,
I'm after a spare battery (or two) for my FZ30.
Having had a little session on Google I've ruled out genuine Panasonic spares as they cost an arm and a leg (which would make for difficult photography!!).
I've seen a Hahnel replacement battery for £21 but have also come across several sites selling un-branded batteries for £8-10 each.
Can anyone recommend a particular brand or has anyone had an experience with the un-branded ones. I don't want to risk the camera by buying potentially dodgy stock.
Thanks

| | | Re: Spare battery for FZ30 I have always used cheap unbranded batteries and have never had any problems whatsoever (with my FZ30, my Canon 400D and with other cameras). You do read horror stories on the net about batteries melting but there seems to be an element of urban myth about these as no-one ever actually knows anyone who has had this happen to them

From your experience how long will they hold a charge for out of the camera ???
Thanks

Olly | do you mean compared to a Panasonic battery? I can't say I've ever noticed any difference to be honest. The same goes for my Canon battery and non-brand Canon batteries. I never even notice which battery I'm using at any one time.

| | | Re: Spare battery for FZ30 Have a look here: Panasonic Digital Camera and Camcorder Batteries
I have bought replacement batteries for my Panasonic video camera and my Canon dSLR from Tantronics, together with the charger which allows recharging from mains or car. They're very helpful people too. |
