I have both infra-red and wired... I use the wired most of the time as i have a cover that sits over my lens and camera.. This stops the infra-red remote from working.
But the infra-red remote is great for those situations where you want to set the camera and not be near it... Unless you have a long remote cable the infra-red comes into its own..
They are both pretty cheap... Why not have both?
