Cheers,
Nick | I see broken bracket in question and have cropped the photo to enlarge, not sure how definitive this is but it does look a thin pore layer ?? the real solution is a return visit to check |

Cheers,

Yes, I agree, well spotted.
So are we going for T.ochracea (I'll get it right this time) again ?
Neil.

| | | Re: Is this young T. versicolor? Hello waxcap,
that looks strongly like Trametes cervina in a fresh and very vital state.
I have not seen this species myself and am an polypore idiot. So don't take it as a determination unless the microscopical details fit too.
best regards,
Andreas

I'm not sure that there are records in the UK for T. cervina Unfortunately I don't have a microscope (or the knowledge or references) to take it further.

| | | Re: Is this young T. versicolor? Hello Dave,
I think that Trametes cervina is under-recorded, at least in Germany, though still then a quite rare species.
May be it is not too much action for you to collect a piece of it and dry it? Don't know who in Britain is eager to recieve polypore exsiccates but may be it is worth sending it to Kew. If you like to know what it is and no one will agree to look at it, you can send it to me, but sending uproad is expensive I fear. And if it is sterile, there will be no big chance for determination.
best regards,
Andreas
