Been reviewing some old photos and came across the attached. I assume despite not being standard yellow this is still Dacrymyces stillatus, any thoughts or confirmation gratefully received. growing on dead wood probably beech |

With that red plasmodium, this should be Lycogala epidendrum rather than L.terrestre (We'll forgive Mal the spelling error - he must have been in a hurry  ) .

it doesn't really matter that a proportion of the records of the (admittedly very common) D. stillatus will be incorrect, but it's worth remembering that without microscopy records are unconfirmed and could conceivably belong to one of the other species . . . .

Lycocala as with all Myxomycetes are in the Kingdom Protozoa and therefore are not actually fungi, although they do look a bit like fungi
