| | | Unidentified fungus from my back catalogue Been trying to ID the attached for some while and can't really seem to tie it down, photo taken a few weeks back, growing on fallen oak in contact with soil. Thought it might be a Pluteus variety but cap of mature specimen very umbonate and seems to be a "ring remnant" on stem
Been back today but only old mature specimen left as per original photo.
Can anyone point me in the right direction |

| | | Re: Unidentified fungus from my back catalogue hi
trouble with back catalogues is they don't always come with decent field notes ; a spore print would have settled whether Pluteus or not (though you're correct the ring would also rule out that genus)
my initial suggestion would be rather gone-over Kuehneromyces mutabilis

| | | Re: Unidentified fungus from my back catalogue Hello,
my opinion would be old Galerina marginata. On the overview picture one can see a standing fruitbody with the typical stipe for Galerina.
best regards,
Andreas

Having just checked a few books I can see where your ID comes from, many thanks for the expert guidance
