| | | An Agrocybe?
This rather dried out troop were by a hawthorn hedge on sandy soil (on 8 January). They have me uncertain and I wonder of they can be Agrocybe spp? Any comments? |

| | | Re: An Agrocybe? Hello,
I'm not too happy with Agrocybe. Which one should it be? Agrocybe pediades s.l. is the only one looking like this. But the gill colour is a bit unusual and the gills a nearly decurrent. I would say this is a Psilocybe/Deconica, may be Deconica subviscida or something like this.
best regards,
Andreas

| | | Re: An Agrocybe? I think that this all may be a bit unfair given the dried state of the specimen. But I think that Agrocybe pediades may be a close runner. It has no ring and favours sandy soils.
Turning to Psilocybe/Deconica. Are all Psilocybes now Deconicas? Or only some? I cannot seem to find D. subviscida (or, indeed, P.s.) in any of my books.
Thanks, as always, for the guidance and discussion. |

| | | Re: An Agrocybe? Hello,
Psilocybe is nowadays restricted to the species containing Psilocybin. The others are grouped in the genus Deconica.
Psilocybe subviscida var. subvscida has often been eroneousely determined as Psilocybe physaloides (e.g. Cetto no. 2214) or inquilina, the var. velata is e.g. in Fungi of Switzerland as Psilocybe bullacea, and P. graminicola is another synonym to it.
best regards,
Andreas
