| | | Collybia acervata?????? Advice please First of all, I'd like to wish everyone a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!!....and 'thank you' to all who were so helpful re: my posts in 2011.
Confirmation on this one would be a very helpful start to 2012 as I'm sure it's of the Toughshank variety but appears too robust for Collybia dryophila, also the stipe seems to remain the same colour and is only slightly pallid at the apex... at the base it has the appearance of wearing woolly socks! So if it isn't Collybia acervata....could it be Collybia erythropus as it was found in leaf litter next to a rotting log.
With best regards,
Jean

my suspicion is that although looking atypical, this is Rhodocollybia butyracea, which is a very variable fungus; I don't think it is acervata or erythropus
best wishes
Chris

Chris | HNY too Chris from 'Joan' aka Jean!...I think you must have enjoyed the celebrations
I'll take a look at Rhodocollybia butyracea, many thanks for that. It's been a puzzle for a while and didn't seem to match the info in my 'library'!
All the very best,
Jean

All the very best,
Jean | sorry Jean ; can't blame any celebrations, haven't touched a drop in days, fighting a very nasty chest infection at the moment
so blame the drugs, lack of sleep, and being off my food!

C | Oh heck Chris...that's a rotten way to start the year and I do hope the 'drugs' get cracking on that infection pretty quick. No need for 'sorry' either as I was just pulling your leg...the good news is you must be recovering slightly, you answered my post !
Thanks again and I hope you are better sooner rather than later, you need to eat all those Christmas goodies!
Somewhere on this Blue Planet, spring is just around the corner, but not in North Staffordshire today
Best wishes,
Jean

Tell you what Chris,
I may be popping back up to Wentworth Castle in a few months for the Resupinate workshop, so I'll bring a left over Turkey leg with me so that you don't feel so left out.
Happy New Year,
Neil. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
