Gymnopilus? and Orange Disc for ID help please ..

I think this is Common Rustgill - Gymnopilus penetrans. 3cm across the cap and 4cm tall, rust brown spore print. Found in conifer plantation growing on rotting wood.



These were growing on the side of the path through a field. Largest one about 15mm across growing flat to the ground. I thought possibly Melastiza sp. but there doesn't appear to be a hairy margin.

Looks like Gymnopilus penetrans to me


Did you check for hairs with a hand lens? Sometimes they can be sparse and not easily visible

Yes, checked with the hand lens and close up below.

Isn't the orange peel just that - Aleuria aurantia ?

I will have to pop out and see if the discs have developed a bit more as the smaller A. aurantia I have seen before were more cup like and had a paler margin.
