| | | Bjerkandera I came across a log with lots of Bjerkandera adusta growing but a couple of patches on the top had these outgrowths.
Is this just an unusual pore formation of the B adusta or is it a different species? Can anyone help.
Thanks

Could it be Ceratiomyxa poroides (= C.fruticulosa var.poroides)?
Cheers,
Nick

| | | Re: Bjerkandera Thanks Nick your suggestion looked right until I started to examine. A cross section of the firm flesh showed these tubes
I then took a spore print overnight and it produced a lot of white spores
Which are the right size and shape for B adusta. So after all that I think it is just a deformed tube layer of the adusta and not actually something growing on it, maybe because the wood has been moved.

I should have probably asked what the texture was like before jumping the gun!
Cheers,
