Panaeolus ID needed

I find it quite tricky to id Panaeolus finds and I'm trying to create a guide for myself...I have quite a few pictures to get confirmed but for now is this one Panaeolus Acuminatus? Spore print was black and was found on a north facing hill:




I was interested in this one because it seemed to surive the snow, frost and ice and is still fruiting.

Does anyone know of any good Panaeolus guides or keys for the UK?

I am not very good at id ing Panaeolus from photos so I will leave this for others to have a go at

However I just Googgled 'Key to Panaeolus in Britain'

This thread appeared a few items down and just above, a key to Panaeolus

That key is a bit difficult to use as it refers to pleurocystidia types, which are not defined in the key itself.

I use the key in Funga Nordica, but you do need a microscope.

So it does, and also for cap surface types, so not really much use

I found keys already before posting this thread but I didn't find them to be too helpful- I quite like this one (PANAEOLUS in the Pacific Northwest) and want to do a UK version of it.

Hopefully I'll be getting a microscope in the next few months.

Pans that I have found this year:

panaeolus/Panaeolina foenisecii (Very common)
panaeolus cinctulus (quite common)
panaeolus papilionaceus (Very common)
panaeolus acuminatus (very common)
panaeolus olivaceus (Very common)
Panaeolus fimicola (Only found a few times but wasn't 100% certain)

I still sometimes get them mixed up though and I'm sure that there's more that I've found but haven't realised what they were and some that I'm just not 100% certain about.

well I just hope that the message that (with a couple of exceptions) microscopy is required to identify Panaeolus species, sadly, has got across
