Yellowish fungi in pine woods

Found growing in pine woods, mostly younger trees. No strong odour. Growing on forest floor. Size up to 2-3" diameter. Any ideas?

Hi Chris,

Is there something that specifically suggests H.fasciculare?

I was just about to suggest (on the basis of the pale violaceous looking gills and conifer association) that these may also be H.lateritium.

(I appreciate that H.fasciculare associates with both Deciduous and Conifer, and can have purplish gills at maturity).

I thought it looks like sulphur tuft, but it was growing on the forest floor pine needle litter, not on wood stumps... but maybe it grows on both?

This will be growing on dead buried wood or dead roots near the surface.
