Oyster-like fungus on rotting log

With some trepidation I would like to ask for views on the likely identification of this fungs found last weekend (10/12) growing on and in a rotting pine log. Could it be Panellus or Crepidotus spp?

This does look like Crepidotus mollis, but I'm surprised there is no sign of any elasticated cap cuticle on the broken sample - perhaps it stuck to the piece that is missing or perhaps is not C.mollis.

Thanks for the clarification. No, I didn't peel the cap - but note that this is easily done and a good characteristic. You now give me confidence to pose further questions...
