Boletus?

Hi all, first post on here!

We found this whopper yesterday - I'm pretty sure it's a Boletus, but which I'm not sure.

It was growing in the shadow of a single Spruce in the south of England

difficult to say from these fotos. Must have been a horrible windy day ...
It looks like Boletus reticulatus (or may be edulis ) in my opinion, though the tube layer looks a bit dark for it.

Hi Andreas, thanks for your quick reply and suggestions -- it was a sunny day that quickly turned very windy!

I've read up on your suggestions - from what I've read it could be an old edulis due to the colouring on the stipe and that reticulatus is out of season? It also could maybe a pinophilus due to the close proximity to a spruce however the stipe seems to be the wrong colour?

However I am of course a beginner and could easily be completely wrong!

Off for another walk now to see what we can find!
