| | | What Species Are These Mushrooms Hi,
I have a copy of the book, Mushrooms And Toadstools of Britain & Europe in the Collins Nature Guide series. I also have the Dvd, The Collectors Guide To Wild Mushrooms. When I was out in some woods I found the following, as I'm very new to mushrooms, I have no idea what species they are. I kept them in the fridge for a day or so until I took the photos. The ones that look a little like common inkcaps, these were in a clumps where horses are out, not woodland. Has anyone idea what species the various might be, some of the stems were purple.
Ta very much.

| | | Re: What Species Are These Mushrooms Hello Polly and welcome to WAB.
Unfortunately, you haven't given much thought into how you think we are going to try to identify these specimens for you, as none are numbered and none are exactly in ordered columns - where do we start ?
Furthermore, you do not show the specimens in enough detail and a lot of the specimens are old and tired looking.
There is a permanent 'sticky' near the top of the list of fungi threads entitled
"Help us to help you identify fungi" read this thoroughly, and then photograph any future finds one at a time ensuring to show both top and underside, so that we can see whether pores or gills are present and can even see the colour of the gills.
Get out there now and get some shots as the frosts are coming and soon not much will be showing.

I'm in the woods again, Tuesday. If I find anything I will repost pictures, this time in the correct way.
Cheers,
Peter. |
