id soggy rubbery fungus

I found this in a field on a river bank. There were several clusters just like this. Conditions are very wet and very cold, which may account for the soggy, rubbery aspect. The cap is between 2"/3". Stipe clear of rings, no volva. No striking scent. Any ideas would be very welcome

sorry s.r. but when fungi get to this state you should in the words of the great Dionne Warwick song just "Walk on By"

identifying roadkill is easier - once the frosts get at them, or too much moisture, or they get old, they often look very different from the typical state

I suspect in the following few weeks we are going to be having to say this to a number of hopeful posters

I'm not saying someone may not have a suggestion - and clearly this could not be anything (it's not brown-spored, for starters!) but . . . .

Thanks for the comments, quite understandable, considering the condition of these fungi.
Doubt if there will be any fresh fruiting bodies from this particular patch. We are into the snow and ice again (later than last year though)
can spring be far behind......
