White fungus growing within a group of Fly Agarics

Hi all,

Any clues as to the ID of a nondescript fungus growing in grass? I only noticed it because of its close association to Amanita muscaria.

this is one of those pesky and - as you correctly say - nondescript Clitocybe species that occur, particularly towards the end of the season

Ken B. is pretty good at them but they are difficult - they don't even have many micro-characters to help a lot of the time

Hi Debs - did it smell at all?
C fragrans is a lovely fragrant aniseedy sort of smell and might be a contender...................bit late for that I think though.

Thanks very much. I didn't test for the smell I'm afraid.

But even just narrowing it down to Clitocybe is fine by me.
