Huge fungi

Hi whilst walking my dog yesterday 24/11/11 in mixed woodlands on the IOW, I spotted this huge Fungi. The top was slightly wider than the span of my hand so approx 8" and I would say it stood a foot high. I have never seen anything this big before and wondered it anybody could identify it please?

I'll stick my neck out and say it's a Parasol mushroom.

Yes correct: Parasdol mushroom (Macrolepiota procera). I found some nice young specimens yesterday, will put a photo on the Gallery soon

Hi there and thank you both for your comments - I looked it up and found I probably should have picked and cooked it ! - No - not really - and it was past its best !
I thought it was amazing and am thrilled to have seen it and again, thank you for identifying it - (and yes Lemars, thanks, my dog is a real cutie I was using her as a prop to try and get some scale ! )
