| | | Unidentified woodland fungus cluster. Found this today in mixed (pine/birch/oak) woodland. Largest cap approx 1cm, stem approx 4cm tall, grey gills beneath web, no appreciable smell.
was growing up through the leaf litter on an old stump, has me flummoxed! has gone through a few things, but can't pin it down.
Have one photo from Gallery, and one link as other photo is apparently too big. Do let me know if this is a problem, I tried to post this once without success, and wondered if tht was why, but can't find a way to re-size photos.
Any pointers greatfully recieved!

With those white stems & fibrillose veil they look Psathyrelloid...Probably something like P.piluliformis or P.multipedata, but I like to check the spores on these as they can be a pain in the backside .
Did you ever get in touch with the Sussex Fungus Group?
Cheers,
Nick

| | | Re: Unidentified woodland fungus cluster. Thank you both! John, I've been out to another spot where I knew I'd seen the same thing and have reposted the thread, believing this one to be obsolete!
And Nick, That's around where I've ended up, spore print on a second go as my cat got inquisitive in the night, but new thread is titled poss Psathyrella laevissima. Photo of caps in situ, and I found some larger fruit bodies for a comparison.
I did join the group I believe, and have been in touch with Martin Allison, who's local to me as it goes Would love to be kept up to date with anything that's going on. I'm off to a foray in London this weekend to try out some microscopes. I've got one coming as a present, but no idea what I want!
Thanks again both. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
