| | | brown topped fungi id please My first post!
East Sussex. On the Dicker clay pan.
Found under blackthorn cleared out earlier this year, on a clay based soil, in grass and leaf debris about 6cm across. Very wild guess - ashen chanterelle
Several larger, older? damaged fruit bodies nearby.
Some gills appear to have some small flap-like things attached to them. |

It looks like a Lepista to me, probably L. nuda but you'll always need more info to guarantee an ID!
Here's a few tips on how you can help us help you identify fungi |

Thinking it was Lepista I took a spore print which was rusty brown, suggesting Cortinarius |

| | | Re: brown topped fungi id please A few weeks ago I found what I thought was a Wood Blewit on its own under an Oak. When I picked it up the jizz just seemed to be different, so took it home and looked at it carefully.
After half an hour I decided it was Cortinarius and did a spore print.
In the morning it turned out to be pink.
After 30 + years studying fungi and I still get caught out.
