....and it was growing in grass on the edge of a wood, on a grassy verge or in a woodland clearing, had white gills, with a ring on the stem, and was very big measuring ... no, don't bother to tell us any additional information, it's the Parasol, Macrolepiota procera.

P.S. BTW, if growing on it's own, or in a clump of the same species, then it is a Fun gus.

Hi Fairplay, brilliant stuff thanks for the ID of the fung us 
Sorry about that, I shall remember to include as much information about the specimen's location as I possibly can next time, promise... especially if it means avoiding catching the identifier on a bad day 
P.S. BTW, "if growing on its own", not "growing on it's own" (that would translate as "growing on it is own")

Surely "the specimen's location" denotes a possessive apostrophe and is therefore acceptable. |
