| | | Re: is this even a fungus? Thats amazing I`ve never seen anything like it. I don`t think its a fungus they look like some kind of egg. They appear to be stuck to the twigs with a gelatinous substance. It might be an idea to post again in the insect forum

This is a Myxomycete - Leocarpus fragilis.

It is worth looking up myxomycete life cycles as they are fascinating things not fungi but closer to animals

This is probably the same species, but in its plasmodial stage.
It looks as though this one is just beginning to form the sporocarps.
As Peter says, well worth looking up myxo life cycles to get an idea of how these things live & grow.
