| | | Mushroom ID Please Sorry, just joined so I apologise if I don't follow protocol exactly! This is the first year I've started foraging so I dare say I'll be in this forum a lot!!
I found loads of mushroom this morning and most I can identify myself and I'm sure this is a common one as they are everywhere where I was walking (Newlands Corner, nr Guildford, Surrey)
They were found in mostly deciduous woods, in a loose ring. I think the strongest identifier is the stem which widens like a bolete.
Any help appreciated!! |

I am reasonably sure these are the Clouded Funnel (Clitocybe nebularis)

| | | Re: Mushroom ID Please Thank you Peter,
I had a suspicion from the books I have looked through.
Always good to get a second opinion.
Thanks again.

But there are photos on the web showing C.nebularis still intact with Volvariella growing from the cap and I agree with Peter that now is a good time to look out for the parasitic Volvariella surrecta.
(only just realised it isn't illustrated in the 'new' Phillips)
