| | | Help needed for I.D on several fungi please
Hello everyone,
Any help to I.D or confirm I.D for this collection of fungi would be gratefully received.
2 images of a 'fungi table'..the remains of this tree trunk(poss oak/beech) had numerous fungi and looked so intriguing. Any thoughts on this collection?? Is the lumpy looking fungus on the very top Lumpy Bracket?
2 images of a grey bracket
This tiny red disc shaped fungus on a bracket...not sure of bracket I.D
Can only think this is a shaggy parasol mushroom but this one was a medium grey in colour and medium to large in size growing underneath bushes. Very little light getting to them and quite a scramble for me to be able to take the photo!
Is this Hairy Curtain Crust?..a very vivid yellow. The score marks on the tree trunk make the pattern of the fungus very interesting.
Beechwood Sickener - Russula nobilis??? growing beneath mature Beech trees.
Is this Yellow Club?

you'll have to forgive me - I don't tend to do English names
the lumpy one at the top and the second one are Trametes gibbosa
not sure about the next one
I think the parasol mushroom could well be Chlorophyllum olivieri - it's a slightly complicated area - see Macrolepiota question which kind of explains why . . .
next is Stereum hirsutum
I don't do Russulas . . .
the yellow club fungus is probably Clavulinopsis helvola, but you do need to check the spores to be certain
hope that helps
Chris

| | | Re: Help needed for I.D on several fungi please Was the tiny red disc in your fifth photograph actually attached to the bracket? Was it by any chance underneath an Oak Tree? I might be way off the mark but it looks to me like an Oak Spangle Gall - they fall off the leaves in autumn ????

Russula certainly looks like a Beechwood sickener to me. |

| | | Re: Help needed for I.D on several fungi please It didn't look like a gall at the time...although it's a good observation. I checked it at the time and it seemed to be on a stalk and attached. I saw another but that was in a different area. I'll check it again and take some more images.
Great feedback from everyone,
Thank you all for the help so far,
Jean

| | | Re: Help needed for I.D on several fungi please Hi Rob...there was a mixture of oak and beech trees but not directly underneath...well, as far as I can remember. I need to take better notes on things in future. A trip back to the park is needed I think to take more images.

| | | Re: Help needed for I.D on several fungi please Hi Chris, I've had a good look at all the information you've supplied and it is all very useful...thank you for taking the time to look at my posting and for the reply.
I also had a good read of 'Macrolepiota question'....THAT certainly does explain things in great detail...it can be a complicated world out there at times!!
