This fungus is growing on the base of an ash tree, which is about 1m diam x30metres tall. It is adjacent to a walkway and a house. The fungus is quite hard and the larger section is about 1 ft across. Could anyone help me to identify it, and whether it has implications on the stability of the tree? Having checked the varying types, I wonder whether it could be Perreniporia fraxinea? The tree has been in leaf during the summer.
Any help would be much appreciated.
