Wow! What a lot to answer...

Hi Neil, my comment about learning at a faster pace was in reference to absorbing as much information as possible with a view to getting as much accuracy as possible. I work best when I have a focus to concentrate my energies! You'd never learn as much as a hobbiest with the best intentions as doing a full time University degree for example, And a project like this will push me.

As for it being the end of the season, There's still an aweful lot going on here at the moment, and as this is a personal project and not a race, I thought I could spend the really frosty months, researching, buying and beginning to learn to use a microscope.

Mike, I understand your concern, and would never be arrogant enough to submit for county records something I was not 100% certain of. Whilst I will be hoping to get some help on this front from this site (I've been lurking a little while, a lot of very knowledgable people!) I also have a mycologist friend moving down to open a lab, who I know will be happy to help with whatever he can.

And Nick, Yes please! I'm going to need all the help I can get. Will check out the group, and PM you some contact details.

Thanks again all, as I said before, this is a personal project, but this website is too good a resource to ignore! Thanks for all your input.

Hope my post didn't come across as saying that you would do. I was just trying to make the general point for everyone who might be considering submitting records.
