| | | ID please? Any help with the identity of this fungus would be welcome. It is growing on rotting wood but I haven't got any other information on it.

Steve | almost certainly it's the bracket fungus Bjerkandera adusta - see: http://www.biolib.cz/IMG/GAL/18655.jpg (which isn't as good/sharp an image as yours!); a view of the underside would clinch it

| | | Re: ID please? Many thanks for this ID and the link. I've just done a search on this species and the specimens shown are very variable. Many don't look much like the one I photographed. I guess the appearance depends on the age of the specimen. |

| | | Re: ID please? Thanks for your comment. Having looked at pictures of both species in the WAB Gallery, I think it fits most closely with B, adusta.
