First Bolete but need some help to ID

Hey all, this is my first post on here so please bare with my ignorance! I found this bolete and quite a few others (the same type) underneath an oak tree close to where I live. I've been looking through various types that it could be but cant place a positive ID on them from my little knowledge.

Sorry for the bad pics!




Cap: about 11-15 cm, slightly cracked
Stem: short and fat, slight red colouration and no noticeable bumps or reticulation.
Found: Beginning of November underneath an oak tree
Pores: Bright yellow

There is no colour change when it is cut or bruised.

I have a few ideas in mind about it but I am probably wrong =p

Hey FungiJohn, I have read the post you suggested but don't worry this is just for interest not for anything else.

I think the most likely species is Boletus impolitus. This should have a smell of phenol especially from the base of the stipe. The flesh also shows brighter yellow just under the skin of the stem and above the tubes. Unfortunately your photos are not in very good focus so do not let us see this.
