If this silly person who ate fungi that he or she misidentified had referred ONLY to these fungi, then he or she would be correct, but as it is, this person is stating all fungi (that are growing there) and as most people know there are a lot of fungi that are safe to eat, I believe most people will take no notice of this sign, but hopefully they will make enquiries to find out how anybody made such a silly mistake in the first place.
I do approve of people being warned of eating fungi in general, but not by using scare tactics or incorrect wording.

| | | Re: A timely reminder I should add that putting up vague signs like this is likely to encourage the misinformed to pull up ALL fungi they see or to put their foot on them (although I have suspicions the silly person who became 'ill' has already gone around putting his or her foot on everything they can see already) thus destroying the beauty of nature.
And how ill was this person in the first place ? Eating ANYTHING for the first time in sufficient quantity is likely to make a person ill or give them a funny tummy.

As long as the arrow is pointing to the culprit fungal species.
I see no fungi nearby, and by the time the sign is put up a crop of a totally innocuous species may be about to appear.
