| | Chanterelles in the middle of my lawn in West Yorkshire Apologies to all for my ignorance but I have failed to spot a similar image on the site. My guess is that these are Cantharellus cibarius but other descriptions seem to suggest that they more likely found in coniferous or beech forests rather than out in bright sunshine. They start off with a circular cap then get more irregular as they grow (to about 100mm in diameter). Also the gills are grey rather than the same yellow as the cap. |

I am no expert with fungi, but Paull I don't reckon they are what you think. For me, and given that Digicams and Pc's don't always reproduce colour correctly, they are NOT Chanterelles. The Gills and Stipe are wrong. They seem to be out of habitat too, although I have picked them in grassy glades but always within the Buchenwald, never on a lawn. Someone else will answer and tell you what they are but I would say they are not Cantharellus cibarius.

These are definately not Cantharellus and I'm afraid the image quality doesn't help in taking the ID further.

Cheers
