| | | Fungi ID if poss
Found growing under Sea Buckthorn at Spurn Head, on a sand dune, was underneath the Buckthorn and this is as good as I could get I was scratched trying to get the camera near enough to take this, if it's a Honey Fungi would it be growing on Buckthorn?
Thank you in advance. |

| | | Re: Fungi ID if poss Thank you very much for that, so it does grow on Buckthorn too, I read that the Buckthorn was taking over from the Marram Grass at Spurn so perhaps if this fungi wipes some of it out it will help.
thank you very much for your help, it is much appreciated. |

| | | Re: Fungi ID if poss I would have thought Buckthorn would be more beneficial to wildlife and the environment in general than marram grass (which too has an important role to play)

| | | Re: Fungi ID if poss Thanks for that, I had read an article, obviously got the wrong end of the stick I assumed that marram grass held the sand dunes together and protected the dunes, but Sea Buckthorn does the same, and has other benefits too, thank you for putting me right, and thanks again for the ID. |

this is indeed a honey fungus (that name covers several species in fact); I think, with that lovely yellow veil, that this is Armillaria gallica; it's an interesting host/substrate relationship - with my county recorder's hat on I shall PM for the details in due course if I may . . .
best
Chris
