| | | Unidentified Fungi Took these at Lake Vyrnwy Sculpture Park.
No idea what they are.
I think they are about finished.
Any ideas.
I may be able to add them to my photographic records. |

| | | Re: Unidentified Fungi hi
I don't usually touch Russula with a barge-pole (about the only fungal group big, small or miniscule that's true for!)
but this looks rather like Russula nigricans or a close relative - others who (misguidedly IMHO ) do do Russulas may know better . . . .
cheers
Chris

Chris is probably right, but it kind of reminds me of one of the larger Lactarius species - did you damage it to see if it produces milk?
Just a thought....
Cheers,
Nick

| | | Re: Unidentified Fungi I am pretty sure it is not R nigricans as the gills are too close together but I would agree with Chris in that it could be one of the close relatives of that species.

| | | Re: Unidentified Fungi I would suggest Russula delica. Typically covered in leaf debris!

| | | Re: Unidentified Fungi DON'T Granddadscot ! because this has not been confirmed.
If you do not have a microscope, reference books and all the other stuff you need, then you can only put this down as POSSIBLY R.delica.

Neil. | Yeah, I still reckon there's a 16% chance it's Lactarius vellereus. saw loads today looking just like this....and there's probably a million other Russulas it could be too!
Cheers,
Nick

I have taken on board what you said about not been confirmed.
So will title it possible Russula delica.
Would it be more correct to say a species of Russula or is that to vague.
