| | | Attractive fungus in garden for ID please I noticed this fungus at the bottom of my garden this morning. There were 3 of them, all seemingly at different stages of their life cycle, and wondered if an ID was possible from the photos.
They were growing under the canopy of a beech tree amongst leaf litter. The larger of the 2 intact specimens measured 13cm diameter x 14cm high. One of them had already been uprooted and looks to have been feasted on (no idea by what!). |

You have what was until recently a Macrolepiota, however, they are now called Chlorophyllum.
I would not like to stick my neck out and suggest which species from a photo but perhaps others will be more brave

Peter | not really ; definitely Chlorophyllum - can't see enough details of the ring (whether double-layered or not) or the basal bulb (whether marginate or not); it's not C. olivieri so it's between C. brunneum or C rachodes I think

| | | Re: Attractive fungus in garden for ID please Thanks guys, much appreciated. I didn’t know how/where to begin searching for an ID, so I trawled through pages of photos in the WAB Gallery, but couldn’t find anything that resembled these.
I really must take the time to observe more closely the variety of fungi which pops up in my woodland garden. These specimens caught my interest because they looked so strikingly attractive. |
