Wood mushroom?

Hi All,

I was out today and came across these fine specimens. I am sure that they are Agaricus of some sort, could anyone tell me more precisely what they are? I cut the base on one and thought if turned a bit red but I didn't notice this on another that I pinched between my fingers from the ground. They didn't turn yellow at all.

I notice than no one has answered your enquiry!

They do look like an Agaricus species to me. I would never guess at an Agaricus species name from a photograph and without doing all the microscope work, and I doubt if others would either which is probably why you have not had a reply.

To see any colour changes you will need to cut a fresh specimen in half length ways, and dried up specimens often will not show any colour changes.

When I go back to the woods next time, I'll try to cut a fresh specimen and get a spore print too and maybe re-post with better pics and info.
