| | Boletus and Bracket help Hi all,
I am struggling with this small bolete from yesterday.
Ruddy cap, suede texture, not red cracking, lemon yellow pores, cutting turned blue slowly, and mostly under pores.
Some reddish dotting on lower stipe. Rubellus? Pruinatus?
And then this nice fresh specimen, trametes gibbosa? on deciduous, probably birch, possibly beech:
grateful for steer/advice on both!
Cheers
Ken

| | | Re: Boletus and Bracket help Hi Ken,
Perhaps Boletus appendiculatus.
Second has more of an Inonotus look about it.
Regards,
Mike. |

| | | Re: Boletus and Bracket help I think your bracket is Mensularia radiata (new name for Inonotus radiatus).
I can't quite make out from the photo of your bolete whether the slice through the stem shows red staining in the base or the remains of carrot coloured dots, which can break down to give a carrot coloured stain. Any thoughts?

Ken | Thanks Mike, not time to respond last night, but as soon as you put inonotus, it clicked!
Thanks too Ken, especially for the update.
The Bolete is more carroty stain or granules rather than red staining dots like pruinatus I think.
Hope that helps a little Ken?
Cheers
Ken
